Acer Nitro 5 Vs Asus TUF F15: Which To Choose?

Everything is more expensive these days, without exception. Inflation, shipment delays, chip shortages, and whatever else is going on in the world may all result in higher prices for goods, including gaming equipment.

Prior to this, I thought a $1,000 or less gaming laptop was reasonable. According to my observations, $1,200 is the happy balance between being too cheap and being too costly. The cheapest Acer Nitro gaming laptop is now $999; with a 12th-generation Intel processor, the price rises to $1,049. My assessment device, the Acer Nitro 5, costs $1,299, putting it solidly in the category of “low-cost gaming laptop.” However, the combination of 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD, and an Nvidia 3060 GPU is fairly good.

Last month, Asus introduced a new member of its TUF series of gaming laptops in India. The TUF F15 Gaming laptop is advertised as having top-tier hardware, an easy-to-use interface, and strong competitive gaming performance. Can the i7 processor, backlit keyboard, MUX switch technology, and high-resolution screen deliver on their promises? Is this an excellent gaming system? Let us investigate.

Acer Nitro 5 Vs Asus TUF F15: Detailed Analysis

We like how Acer kept the new Nitro 5’s design quite minimal. Many gaming laptops, particularly lower-priced versions, used to be adorned in flamboyant colours and aesthetic flourishes similar to those seen on Nitro machines, although this tendency has since faded. When flashy red and black were so dominant, it was difficult to find reasonably priced gaming machines that didn’t look like laptops.

However, there have been no major design modifications to the Asus TUF F15 Gaming laptop. The laptop is lighter and thinner than previous generations, weighing 2.2 kilos and measuring 24.95 millimetres thick. Despite its size and weight of 2 kg or more, it weighs less than the rest of the Asus TUF line-up. My personal laptop is a grey hue named Jaegar, however, there are two more options: Mecca and Jaegar. The lid of the laptop was made of metal, while the remainder of the device was made of high-quality plastic. To improve thermal efficiency, vents are available on both sides of the gadget. According to the Military Garde MIL-STD 810H test, the laptop is drop-proof. From the outside, the machine appears to be sturdy and well-built. On the lid, the newly redesigned Asus branding looks fantastic.

The Acer Nitro 5 comes with a 15.6-inch display wrapped in a sleek aluminium unibody. Although larger 17.3-inch displays have been available for some time, 14- and 16-inch panels have grown in popularity in recent years, making this size excellent for a gaming laptop that can still be readily transferred from one location to another. It offers a 144-hertz refresh rate and an IPS display with full HD resolution (1,920 by 1,080 pixels).

Meanwhile, the Asus TUF 15 Gaming laptop’s 15.6-inch WQHD IPS screen has a refresh rate of 165Hz and a reaction time of 3ms. The display’s refresh rate makes scrolling more fluid, and its brightness of 300 nits makes it visible in direct sunlight. The screen of the laptop fully reflects the DCI-P3 colour gamut as viewed by the laptop’s graphics. TUF F15’s graphics are modern and elegant, with vibrant colours. The pictures were excellent from every viewpoint, and there were no problems throughout the gaming.

The screen is intended for both game designers and gamers. The 16:9 aspect ratio makes images appear larger. Nothing much is wrong with the presentation.

Gaming and Performance

The Acer Nitro 5 we evaluated was outfitted with a Core i5-12500H processor from Intel’s 12th generation (“Alder Lake”), 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics chip, and a 512GB solid-state drive. This is a low-cost entry point into the world of gaming: 16GB of RAM is preferable to 8GB, and the 12th generation Intel architecture is supplemented with a GPU that performs well for the price. The system’s default power level of 95 watts may decrease overall system efficiency and have an effect on gameplay.

The TUF F15 gaming laptop, on the other hand, is powered by a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-12700H processor. This device can manage any task thanks to up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. The laptop may easily switch between tasks. The number of apps open has no bearing on the speed. It also doesn’t lag at all.

The laptop’s inbuilt Iris Xe GPU handles the majority of graphics needs. It has a GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming GPU as a gaming laptop. The primary function of the unique MUX Switch placed at the laptop’s base is to switch between the discrete GPU and the integrated GPU.

The word “Gaming” in the name should give you an indication that this laptop was designed specifically for gamers. Despite its small size, the TUF F15 is a powerful gaming computer. Both demanding games such as PUBG and Far Cry 6 and lesser games such as Candy Crush Saga work smoothly. When used to control the illumination behind it, the keyboard performs admirably. The graphics in the games are bright and fast, but the audio is weak.

Acer Nitro 5 Vs Asus TUF F15

Although there are other devices with longer battery lives, the Acer Nitro 5’s battery life is still a plus. The Nitro 5 exceeds the minimum allowable time for a budget system or a large laptop before becoming unduly power demanding, yet this is still within acceptable limits. The seven-hour battery life (your real runtime may be less, especially if you play games while on battery power) should be more than enough to keep you from wondering about when you’ll be near a power source the next time.

The TUF F15 Gaming Laptop comes included with a strong 90Whr battery. It operated Chrome, MS Word, YouTube videos, and WhatsApp for more than six hours without needing to be recharged. To watch videos, the volume was turned up to eleven and the brightness was reduced to about fifty percent.

The battery only lasts around an hour and a half, so you’ll need to plug it in if you want to play for an extended period of time. A 240W power adaptor is included to charge the tablet quickly. There isn’t much runtime, but it gets the job done.

Acer Nitro 5 Vs Asus TUF F15: Final Verdict

The Asus TUF F15 Gaming is an excellent gaming laptop. Aside from its obvious gaming utility, it has a variety of other applications. The laptop is extremely quick, with a beautiful backlit keyboard, and a stunning screen. The design is unremarkable, but the manufacturing quality is excellent. If you’re looking for a gaming laptop, you might be ready to overlook its short battery life, poor audio, and high temperature.

However, the current Acer Nitro 5 does not break any records, but it does provide adequate performance and features for casual gamers at an affordable price.
