The Predator Helios 300 (2021), like all Acer laptops, follows the same design cues. Given the features and performance it provides, it represents good value for money.
The Helios 300 laptop costs $1,689 and comes with an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, and a vibrant 15.6-inch, 240 Hz HD display. The only issue is that the speakers and battery life are both inadequate.
While the Acer Predator Helios 300 (2021) isn’t one of the best gaming laptops available, it’s a good buy if you want to stay connected and use one of the best gaming headsets.
The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is part of the company’s gaming portfolio, but the Pro suffix indicates that it is also intended for business use. This isn’t surprising given that many people use the same laptop for both works and play. It is, in fact, a perfectly reasonable assumption.
The components will help both of these applications. In terms of content creation and gaming, the Ryzen 7 5800H is a well-established CPU, while the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is a good general-purpose GPU. Aside from those fundamental components, the $1,599 review sample we received includes 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Design
Anyone who has seen an Acer Predator laptop has seen the Helios 300, which is the foundation for the Predator Helios. The silver Predator emblem is surrounded by two blue brackets in the center of sandblasted black aluminum. The depth and opacity of the black on the hood are the only things that distinguish this chassis.
The Lenovo display, on the other hand, is the clearest indication that this notebook is capable of both professional tasks and the most recent games. The 16:10 aspect ratio is common in both professional and gaming settings, and it makes perfect sense. When compared to a 4:3 panel, a 16:9 panel may appear crushed, but the extra vertical space makes it easier to access webpages, office software, and other tools.

Display

The vibrant and nuanced appearance of this display is due in part to its high brightness and contrast ratio. Although the black point is slightly deeper, this is not a significant issue and has no effect on playability.
The Acer Predator Helios 300’s 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel display is vibrant and brilliant for a popular gaming laptop. It also has a panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, which makes games look smooth and fluid.

Performance
The RTX 3070 Laptop GPU and 8GB of memory that came with the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro that we tested were both impressive. The maximum power output of the laptop in Performance Mode is 140W, which is what this chip is capable of. The maximum output of its Balanced Mode is 117W.
The Acer Predator Helios 300’s large chassis houses an Intel Core i7-10750H processor and 16GB of RAM. It handled 40 Google Chrome tabs and five 1080p YouTube videos with no noticeable lag.
In Geekbench 5.3, the Helios 300 outperformed the average popular gaming laptop, scoring 6,257 points (5,263). Although it outperformed the TUF Dash F15’s Core i7-11375H and the Razer Blade 15’s Core i7-10750H, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX in the Strix G15 Advantage fell short of the Strix G15 Advantage (7,746).
The Helios 300 took slightly more than nine minutes and eighteen seconds longer than the category average to transcode a 4K video to 1080p (9:15). still faster than the TUF Dash F15 (10:40), but falls short of the Strix G15 Razer Blade 15 Base Model Advantage (10:57). (6:57).
Gaming
The Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop appears to have not learned the lesson about battery life. The Helios 300 fell short of the 6:29 average of mainstream gaming laptops in the Laptop Mag battery test, with only 4 hours and 40 minutes of battery life. The TUF Dash F15 (6:53) and Strix G15 Advantage (6:53) are both slightly longer than the Razer Blade 15. (10:14).
The battery life of the Lenovo is about what one would expect. When gaming, regardless of the brightness levels we chose, it only lasted about 90 minutes, and the GPU’s performance is also reduced when the laptop is powered by batteries. Most gaming laptops are not designed to withstand extended gaming sessions without a power source.
