Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Vs GTR 3: Which One Is Better?

If you’re ready to move on from a fitness tracker to a more serious sports watch, the Amazfit GTR 3 and GTR 3 pro both are good choices. They have a plethora of fitness tracking tools for a low price, it is software and hardware are both well-designed, and it is light and thin enough to wear all day.

Because the battery life falls short of what the company advertises, you’ll need to charge it every week if you want to use all of Amazfit’s best features. Third-party apps are not available on Amazfit’s Zepp OS, which is still in its early stages and lacks an app store.

The GTR 3 Pro, on the other hand, is Amazfit’s most expensive smartwatch to date, with a price tag to match. Despite the fact that Zepp OS is a relatively new platform, this machine has all the makings of a one-of-a-kind machine due to its size and aesthetic appeal.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro could be an excellent smartwatch for those looking for a touch of luxury with a little tinkering.

Here we bring you guys a quick comparison between these watches by Amazfit.

Design and Build Quality

Unlike most smartwatches and fitness trackers, which have rounded corners and a few buttons, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro has a large circular display and two buttons on one side.

Apps and workouts can be accessed with a single button, lending the watch the appearance of a classic timepiece with a timeless design (but can be customised).

The SpO2 (blood oxygen monitoring) and heart rate sensors, as well as the charging connector, are located on the watch’s underside.

The Amazfit GTR 3 has a resin casing with an aircraft-grade aluminium bezel and lugs to give it a more refined appearance (many entry-level running watches have plastic lugs to save weight). It’s available in Thunder Black or Moonlight Gray, with matching straps and cases. The case measures 45.8mm x 10.8mm and weighs 43g with the silicone strap attached. Despite being slightly heavier than the Coros Pace 2, the watch is still extremely thin and light, making it ideal for everyday wear.

Display

The screen on the GTR 3 Pro is without a doubt the most eye-catching component. The circular AMOLED panel has no bezel and practically spills over the sides, allowing for deep blacks and bright colours.

The GTR 3 Pro’s 1.45 in the display, with a pixel density of 331ppi and a brightness of up to 1000 nits, allows you to read the time, track your activity, or use an animated watch face in direct sunlight.

The GTR 3’s OLED touchscreen display is as bright and responsive as we’ve come to expect from Amazfit’s sports watches. Because it has a high resolution, it can display a lot of information at a glance, which is impressive for a device in this price range. The GTR 3’s screen would be ideal if it had a map or navigation system.

Features and Software

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro’s UI, which runs Zepp OS, is packed with features for tracking fitness and health parameters while working out. The pairing was a breeze after I installed the Zepp app on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Stress and cycle monitors, as well as integrated GPS tracking, are all available for purchase. Because Zepp OS lacks third-party audio solutions, it is difficult to listen to music while walking, running, or riding a bike without a phone (i.e. locally stored media on-watch only).

Given that the GTR 3 is powered by Amazfit’s proprietary operating system, which we found to be fast and bug-free during our testing. We didn’t notice any slowness when using animated faces when testing the GTR 3 Pro, which could be a limitation of the watch hardware.

As expected from a new operating system, Amazfit’s store has only a few new faces and a limited selection of health-related tools for chores like reminding you to drink water, calculating your BMI, and screening for colour blindness. Garmin Connect IQ’s breadth is still far from complete, but it should improve in the coming months and years.

Battery Life

Amazfit GTR 3 pro

Despite its large, always-on display, animated watch faces, Bluetooth, GPS, and ability to track activity and sleep, the GTR 3 Pro’s battery life is impressive.

Even with heavy use, the Amazfit can last up to six days without needing to be recharged. We had to plug it in after about five and a half weeks of daily workouts and vitals checks.

We tested the GTR 3 Amazfit and discovered that its battery life was much shorter than the claims of 21 days in normal use or 10 days in heavy use.

If GPS tracking and heart rate monitoring are used, the battery life of any sports watch will be reduced. To deplete the battery faster, use animated watch faces (including the default one) and enable always-on mode. During our tests, we discovered that raising the watch’s wrist was a reliable way to wake it up.

Our watch’s battery lasted nearly one week with the animated face and SpO2 tracking enabled, with one monitored workout every other day. While this is commendable and comparable to other similarly priced watches, it falls short of Amazfit’s estimates.

Amazfit GTR 3 Pro vs GTR 3: Final Verdict

In comparison to other smartwatches we’ve tested, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is a marvel, with a massive display, a seemingly infinite number of activities to measure, a diverse set of watch faces to choose from, and an extensive set of metrics tracked.

With the Amazfit GTR 3, you can easily track your workouts by pressing a button. Despite its low price, it packs a lot of useful features into a small package.
