The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 was a great-looking laptop with an Intel processor, but it lacked a little in terms of performance. Despite its attractive, portable design, we were disappointed with the performance of this laptop, especially given its high price.
In recent months, the market has been flooded with new and updated gaming laptops. Intel, AMD, and Nvidia have all released new high-end hardware since the January CES trade show. We’ve tested a few of the new CPUs and GPUs that are now available in laptops. Today we’ll talk about our first impressions of AMD’s new high-performance laptop processor, the Ryzen 6000 series. We’ll see how it compares to Intel’s high-end 12th Gen offerings after the company sends me a demo unit based on the top-end Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU.

Asus Rog Zephyrus M16 vs Asus ROG Strix G15: Detailed Analysis
Design and Build Quality
Looking past the price tag reveals a well-thought-out design. The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 is made of black aluminum and plastic, and it lacks the overly bright lighting and materials found on some of its competitors. For enhanced display immersion, the ErgoLift hinge conceals the bottom bezel while angling the keyboard towards the user.
The top lid, like other Zephyrus models, has a smart dotted pattern and a metallic rainbow sheen when the light is just right. Only the RGB LEDs on the keyboard and a small ROG logo are embellished.
In terms of the ROG Strix G15, Asus has decided to go all out for its 2022 ROG Strix models. The ROG Strix G15 appears to be a carbon copy of the recently unveiled ROG Strix Scar 17 SE. The lid pattern is simpler, but this model retains the RGB LED light strip across the lower front and sides, the raised hinge design with an angular half-cutout below the screen, and the narrow screen borders that do not allow for a webcam. Instead of RGB lighting, the ROG logo on the lid features white border lighting, which also looks great.
Display

But the 16-inch screen isn’t the only intriguing feature. With a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2560 x 1600, it offers more vertical space for your games.
Although adaptive sync has a maximum speed of 165Hz, it is only suitable for one-on-one gaming and should not be used for competitive play. Similarly, the 3ms response time is not exceptional.
Even with its matte finish, the screen’s 476 nits of brightness and 1221:1 contrast ratio are adequate for gaming.
Performance
The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 has 5888 stream processors and 8GB of memory. Asus claims that the maximum power with Dynamic Boost is 100W, with an additional 20W available for those who require it.
The Intel Core i9-12900H M16 processor has six Hyper-Threaded P-Cores. The UK model is the most powerful, with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and 2TB of PCIE 4.0 SSD. Buyers in the United States and Europe will be limited to half the memory and storage capacity available to the rest of the world.
The RTX 3070 Ti is a lightning-quick graphics card. Horizon Zero Dawn ran at 67 frames per second, while Borderlands 3 ran at 53. To play the most difficult ray tracing games on the M16, you only need to tweak the settings slightly. Aside from competitive gaming, the M16 could run Rainbow Six at 217 frames per second.
In terms of everyday performance, Asus ROG’s ROG Strix G15 is a joy to use. The 2560×1440 display resolution made a significant difference in my work and gaming after I reduced Windows’ default 150 percent scaling to 125 percent. The density is excellent for reading and work productivity at this screen size. It’s not ideal for watching videos, but it’s adequate for viewing angles, brightness, sharpness, and color reproduction.
The speakers’ sound reproduction is of surprising quality across a wide range of media formats. When the fan noise wasn’t interfering with the sound effects in fast-paced games, they were excellent
When it came to fan noise, the ROG Strix G15 was relatively quiet. I didn’t notice the fans turning on if there was a game or a heavy test running. They did make a dull whoosh when under heavy load, but they also spun down quickly when the Windows desktop appeared. I did notice the WASD key area getting a little hot while gaming, but it wasn’t too uncomfortable. The keyboard and surrounding area can become slightly warm during normal use. When this laptop is stressed, hot air can be seen coming out of the sides and back.

Battery

Even if you don’t use it to play video games, the Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 has a respectable lifespan. When running video at 150 nits, it lasted two hours longer than the Scar and more than twice as long as the Alienware x17.
The M16 lasted just over four hours when subjected to a working benchmark. Regardless, the x17 is twice as good as the Asus Scar. A laptop this small should have a reasonable amount of flexibility.
The gaming battery life on the M16 was shockingly short, lasting only 1 hour and 6 minutes. If you want to play the most recent games, you must keep your laptop plugged in at all times.
I was surprised to discover that the battery on the ROG Strix G15 lasted a full day of work without shutting down automatically. A typical gaming laptop should have a battery life of 6 to 8 hours on a single charge. The graphically demanding Battery Eater Pro test took an unusually long time.

Asus Rog Zephyrus M16 vs Asus ROG Strix G15: Conclusion
The Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 is ideal for those looking for a more fashionable laptop that also performs well in most areas. There are more powerful machines with a broader range of screens available, but this one is hot and noisy.
ROG Strix G15 laptops, like the G513, aren’t aiming to be the best gaming laptops on the market; rather, they’re attempting to strike a balance between price, features, and performance. This is particularly true of the G513RW. Everything in this device’s processor and high-resolution display is up to date with the latest technology, from RAM to storage to communications. Gaming performance at 2560×1440 is adequate if you do not require ray-traced effects at the highest quality. You’ll be able to enjoy this for a few years if you have the money.
