Google Pixel 6a Vs iPhone 12: Which To Choose?

The Google Pixel 6a is currently the best midrange Android phone to buy. The OLED display is stunning in terms of display, and the phone has a long battery life, as well as top-notch performance and solid cameras. Even if you don’t like the slightly better camera hardware of the Pixel 6, the Pixel 6a’s wireless charging and more durable build are all reasonable trade-offs for the lower price. Overall, the Pixel 6a is a fantastic midrange Android phone that is our Editors’ Choice.

However, at a reduced price of $699, the iPhone 12 remains one of the best iPhone values available right now. Apple is expected to release the iPhone 14 this fall, with even more improvements in processor speed, camera quality, and battery life than the iPhone 13. Don’t write off the iPhone 12 just yet.

Google Pixel 6a vs iPhone 12: Detailed Analysis

Design and Build quality

The Pixel 6a stands out from the crowd. The horizontal camera bar on the back, which flows into the sides of the device, is a standout feature of the phone’s design. We decided to put the camera module in a bar because we liked how it looked. The Pixel 6a’s design is more akin to that of its higher-end siblings, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro when compared to other smartphones in its price range. We like the design, especially in the Sage shade that we saw (Chalk and Charcoal models are also available).

Because Apple rarely changes the physical design of the iPhone from generation to generation, any minor changes are usually welcomed with open arms by iPhone owners. One of the more minor changes is the iPhone 12’s new flat-edge design.

Sure, the new flat-edged iPhones look great and are a welcome change from previous generations’ rounded iPhones. Furthermore, Apple’s new Ceramic Shield material improves the iPhone 12’s durability, whereas previous iPhones’ rounded frames made them more fragile.

Display

iPhone 12

Marshmallow (Android 6.0) The 6.1-inch OLED panel has a refresh rate of 60Hz and a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. This equates to 429 pixels per square inch (PPI) in terms of pixels per square inch (PPI) (20:9:1). 24-bit color is supported and looks good on the display in practice. The OLED panel provides excellent viewing angles and high contrast even in direct sunlight.

The LCD display on the iPhone 11 was without a doubt the Achilles’ heel of Apple’s entry-level premium iPhones in recent years. All thanks to a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, which is similar to the one found on the iPhone 12 Pro.

The display on the iPhone 11 has a resolution of 1792×898, whereas this panel has a resolution of 2532×1170. Because the device has HDR10 certification, you can watch videos captured with the device’s Dolby Vision-enabled rear camera in their original high-definition quality. HDR10

Despite the fact that the Monster Hunter movie trailer looks like it should never have been made, I found Black Diablos’ scales, horns, and teeth to be stunningly accurate. The black smoke from an explosion stood out against the otherwise sunny scene in a way that the iPhone 11 LCD panel, which cannot display true black, would not have.

Photographic And Camera Image Quality

Cameras are the one area where Google phones consistently excel. Pixels’ reputation for high-quality photos stems from high-quality hardware and computational photography algorithms. It’s still not as good as the cameras on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, but that’s not a deal breaker for most people. For example, the Pixel 6a’s 12.2MP dual-pixel primary camera cannot produce as much detail in photos as the Pixel 6’s 50MP primary sensor. The 6a, like its more expensive siblings, employs the same 12.2MP ultra-wide sensor. The quality of photos taken with the ultra-wide angle lens and those taken with the main lens differ noticeably.

The iPhone 12 camera, on the other hand, appears to have remained largely unchanged from the outside. The 12-megapixel sensors in the dual-lens rear camera, which are similar to last year’s design, support both the wide and ultrawide lenses.

There have been some improvements, but don’t be misled. A seven-element camera with a /1.6 aperture is new to the iPhone, making it the largest iPhone camera to date. We can expect to see even more detail in even the most difficult lighting conditions with the addition of Smart HDR and Deep Fusion, thanks to a 27 percent improvement in low-light performance.

Processor

The Pixel 6a is powered by Google’s Tensor processor, which is also found in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. There is no way to expand the phone’s storage capacity beyond its 128GB capacity, which includes 6GB of RAM. Despite the fact that these specifications appear to be typical for a $500 smartphone, the phone’s real-world performance outperforms expectations. The Pixel 6a scored a solid 9,558 on the PCMark Work 3.0 test, which simulates everyday tasks like photo editing, web browsing, and data manipulation. Only a tenth of the price of the more expensive Pixel 6. (10,602). Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G ($449.99) powered by the Exynos 1280 SoC outperforms the competition with a score of 11,675.

The iPhone 12’s best-in-class performance is powered by Apple’s new A14 Bionic processor, the first 5-nanometer processor ever embedded in a smartphone. This year’s A14 Bionic chip outperforms Qualcomm’s top-tier 2020 silicon, the Snapdragon 865 Plus. As of 2021, more Snapdragon 888-powered phones are available, including the Galaxy S21 series, which is powered by the most recent version of the processor.

Google Pixel 6a vs iPhone 12: Final Verdict

In comparison to the Pixel 5a, Google has outdone itself with the Pixel 6a, which only improves on its predecessor’s strengths. In addition to the high-end design, prestigious features include a beautiful display, a long battery life, and powerful cameras. Although a power adapter would have been nice, these are acceptable tradeoffs for the phone’s cellular performance.

The iPhone 12 is still up in the air for me. It’s impossible to deny that this is an excellent phone, and many of the changes Apple has made to its most popular model are advantageous. Previous models’ LCD panels were disappointing at this price point, but this new Super Retina XDR panel is a huge improvement. The iPhone 12 also has a stylish design, a MagSafe docking station, and a superior dual camera system.
