We tested a more expensive version of the Victus 16 with a Ryzen 7 5800H and GeForce RTX 3060 a few months ago. We’re now putting the Victus 16-0145ng through its paces. Despite the fact that HP saves money by not delivering a Windows operating system (we installed Windows 11 Home), the combination of a Ryzen 5 5600H and a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti for around 920 Euros ($975) is an absolute value. At that price, the addition of 16 GB of DDR4-RAM and a 512 GB NVMe SSD leaves no room for criticism. On paper, the IPS display appears to be excellent as well, with 144 Hz demonstrating a decent ability to mimic fast-paced games.
Lenovo’s IdeaPad Gaming series is a low-cost gaming laptop that stresses gaming performance over frills. The IdeaPad Gaming 3i 15 is powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB PCIe SSD, and a 15-inch IPS FHD display. This model is not currently available in the United States. However, a $1,000 Intel Core i7-11370H PC with 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB solid-state drive is available.

HP Victus Ryzen 5 5600h vs Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3: Detailed Analysis
While the more expensive brother has a great Full-HD display, the Victus 16-e0145ng demonstrates a number of cost-cutting methods employed by the manufacturer. Despite the fact that competitors are not remarkable in this area, giving a comparably dismal performance in 2022, neither brightness nor colour space coverage is acceptable. The image is quite pale and gloomy, especially in bright circumstances, with only 62 per cent of the RGB colour gamut and an average brightness of 239 cd/m2.
Our testing unit’s 60 Hz display (250 nits), a 120 Hz panel (250 nits), and a 165 Hz panel (300 nits) with full sRGB coverage are all matte and based on IPS technology.
The display’s brightness topped Lenovo’s guideline in our tests, reaching a respectable 300 nits. However, subjectively, it is only adequate and is the IdeaPad Gaming 3’s most obvious flaw. The matte display coating causes granularity in the display contents, and the colours aren’t very vibrant. We discovered no indication of PWM flashing, only slow response times. If at all possible, we recommend using the optional 165 Hz panel. Remember that not all display settings are available in all locations.
The IdeaPad Gaming 3’s case is entirely constructed of plastic, and its rough underbelly reflects its low pricing. The overall look is functional and modest. The device lacks gaming design cues and does not look like a gaming laptop. There are no case lighting effects.
The top cover and base unit both feature a smooth, fingerprint- and smudge-prone texture. Despite the fact that the middle of the keyboard is easily depressed and the entire device creaked when we tried to bend it, the base unit’s stiffness is adequate.
Overall, the hinge is reasonably well-adjusted, with a tiny wobble while moving the display (maximum opening angle: 135°). The display cover is clearly less sturdy than the base, and when pressure was applied to its back, the panel displayed a very visible ripple effect.
The Victus 16 is positioned in the centre of our test unit’s gaming equipment. The components employed are well-balanced and should appeal to budget-conscious players. The Omen Gaming Hub, which should come preinstalled on all Windows machines, has three separate performance settings. Except for the battery test, all measurements were taken in maximum mode (see screenshot #3). The fan control was always set to automatic.
The Lenovo Vantage software, on the other hand, provides three power profiles: silent, auto, and performance. The GPU is limited to 60 W in Silent and Auto modes, whereas Performance unlocks the full 90 W. As a result, we used this profile for all of our benchmarks. Because the battery does not support the Performance mode, we ran our battery tests using the Auto profile.
The Ryzen 5 5600H is a 45-watt hexacore CPU that can run up to 12 threads at the same time. Under stress, the clock speed of the 7-nm version ranges from 3.3 to 4.2 GHz.
Our Cinebench performance curve is quite constant, similar to competitors’ Cinebench loops. As shown in the table, the Ryzen 5600H outperforms Intel’s Core i5-11300H, which has only four cores (max. 8 threads). Other competitors use Ryzen 7 5800H (8C/16T) and are thus substantially faster.
The Intel Tiger Lake H35 chip, on the other hand, is a familiar face on the Lenovo Ideapad. It has four cores and an integrated Iris Xe graphics processing unit, therefore it is slightly quicker than its Tiger Lake U counterparts. The Core i5-11300H processor in our review machine is rated at 42 watts, and as a result, it worked rather consistently even under prolonged long-term load.
The capacity of the battery is the same as that of the more expensive Victus 16 model. Battery life is ensured by the combination of 70 Wh and graphics switching automation. In our WLAN test, the 16-inch laptop with a brightness of 150 cd/m2 lasts seven hours.
Despite its massive size, the IdeaPad Gaming 3 is powered by a modest 3-cell 45 Wh battery, which provides adequate overall battery life, at least when the device is idle. Under load, it lasted about an hour. Web browsing lasted between 5.5 and 6.5 hours during our Wi-Fi test, depending on the brightness of the display. With the panel’s brightness adjusted to 150 nits, our video test lasted more than seven and a half hours (84 per cent on our device). It takes about two hours to fully charge an almost drained powered-on gadget.

HP Victus Ryzen 5 5600h vs Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3: Final Verdict
The HP Victus’s Ryzen 5 5600H, GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, and NVMe SSD provide a well-balanced and relatively powerful system suitable for a wide range of workloads. Apart from the poor display performance (limited colour space coverage, insufficient brightness, etc.), the HP laptop has no major flaws. Despite the lack of Thunderbolt, the aesthetically beautiful chassis provides a good number of input devices and ports. Similarly, the battery life and audio quality are adequate for the price, though not spectacular.
In comparison, the Lenovo Ideapad 3i 15 G6 is a low-cost gaming laptop outfitted with a fast RTX 3050 Ti for adequate FHD gaming performance. Lenovo’s CPU selection, on the other hand, surprised us. In a gadget with a powerful dedicated GPU, Intel’s slow Tiger Lake quad-core processor makes little sense. As a result, gaming performance is slightly lacking, and the 6-core Core i5-11400H would have been a major boost for the notebook. This Tiger Lake processor would have been even less expensive than Lenovo’s i5-11300H. In addition, an AMD-equipped SKU based on the Ryzen 5 5600H is available, which provides significantly better overall performance. It is, however, difficult to obtain in many areas.
