As there is a growth in TV and Home cinema technology and evolution is at a breakneck pace, a good amount of new features are arriving every week. But now the industry has been shifting to more speakers and less simplicity.

Thus the Soundbars have an all-in-one speaker system that provides high-quality sound. If you have a Soundbar then you don’t need any home theater or surround sound setup.

In this article, we’ll compare two Soundbars. The first one is JBL bar 9.1 and the other one is Bose Soundbar 700. Let’s compare them and see which will provide better features.

Design:

The JBL Bar 9.1 has a minimalistic design that looks like any other ordinary soundbar. It has gray casting and various speaker grilles and is almost 35 inches.

It is amazingly short with only 2.5 inches in height which makes it fit even under the shortest TV stands. The bottom and back of the bar are of plastic while the top and sides are of metal. There are ports around the back which include Power, USB, optical, ethernet, and two HDMI ports( 4K HDR Passthrough and ARC audio). It has a big 10-inch plain Subwoofer. No real display is present in the soundbar but it has a dot matrix panel that shows some characters at a time. There are removable satellite speakers that attach themselves magnetically to the ends of the bar to charge. When it is disconnected, the speakers will sync wirelessly with the rest of the system.

Bose soundbar 700 looks like a high-end speaker that has a sleek and stylish design with a good level of build quality. This soundbar features a tempered glass top, wraparound metal grille, clean lines, and a stunning and elegant finish. The glass finish of the bar becomes smudged with fingerprints and it also reflects the screen of your TV which can be very distracting. It is 57 mm high and wide enough for TVs with a screen size up to 55 inches. There are two touch-sensitive controls, one for power and the other to mute the built-in smart assistants. There is no display, only a row of lights which is hard to understand in the beginning.

Battery and Charging:

The Satellite Speakers of Bar 9.1 offer 10 hours of playtime when it gets fully charged. These speakers come with micro USB ports which lets you keep them charging continuously just by inserting a micro USB cable into them while they’re in a rear or wall-mounted position. They take almost three hours to get completely charged.

Connections:

JBL bar 9.1 supports both HDMI and optical connection options. HDMI has Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS-HD that has an advanced lossless format whereas the optical one only supports DTS and Dolby digital. There is one thing to note that the HDMI option can only be used if your TV has an ARC or eARC HDMI or else you have to use optical which doesn’t support all the impressive atmos things.

All the physical connections of the Bose Soundbar 700 are in two recessed areas on its underside. One recess has an HDMI port, an optical digital input, an ethernet port, and a micro USB port. The other recess has the socket for the power cable, four 3.5 mm jacks for a subwoofer, an IR extender, and the ADAPTiQ headset. Surprisingly there aren’t any HDMI inputs, just a single output but it supports eARC i.e enhanced audio return channel which sends lossless audio assuming that TV also supports years.

Bose Soundbar 700 features a universal remote that can be managed with just a touch of a button. It comes with six presets and it lights up only those buttons that are needed at a particular time.

Audio:

The JBL 9.1 bar delivers a powerful audio output which is about 820 W which will feel like you’re sitting in a cinema hall. It bounces the sound off the ceiling that creating an immersive experience. The 25.4 cm(10′) subwoofer gives rich and deep bass which is intense, however, it is not overwhelming for the rest of the audio. The JBL 9.1 bar lets you pick from five levels of bass response. At level five it can be a bit uncomfortable for some while backing the bass off too much to its lowest will lose a significant amount of low end.

Bose Soundbar 700 claims to give rich, detailed, crystal clear audio that will elevate your aural experience with its impressive technology.  This soundbar uses four mid-range drivers, two on either side of a central tweeter. At the far right and left is the PhaseGuide technology that functions with tiny transducers to shoot beams of multi-directional sound to cover a wide area.  It has ADAPTiQ technology that optimizes the acoustic performance as per your room to offer an impressive audio experience in every corner of your room.

Soundbar 700  features a custom-designed eight microphone array to ensure high voice pickup thus allowing Alexa and other voice assistants to hear your command even when music is playing on it. You get distortion-free bass through its QuietPort technology that reduces noise while ensuring more sound output through the small openings.

JBL Bar 9.1 Vs Bose Soundbar 700: Final Verdict

Both the Soundbars are good in their price range. Having said that, The Jbl bar 9.1 supports more audio standards with a powerful subwoofer and is more wireless than Bose Soundbar 700. The reviews are quite mixed for both of them. The Atmos is dependent on your ceilings as high ceilings make it hard for Atmos to function properly.

If you want to save money then you should go for Bose Soundbar 700 but it isn’t as versatile as Jbl bar 9.1 but it does well.  Apart from its price, Jbl bar 9.1 is also a better choice.
