Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Vs Samsung Tab S8 Plus: Detailed Analysis

Built Quality

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro’s aesthetic is on the scale with that of its Apple and Samsung rivals. The body is made entirely of metal, feels quite luxurious, and is only 6mm thin. Its 656g weight makes it surprisingly light for such a huge tablet.

The Tab S8 Plus feels in the hand as a high-end tablet should. Even though it is impressively thin (5.7mm), the balanced full-aluminum unibody is reliable and solid. Pressing the screens of less expensive tablets may feel empty and hollow underneath. This time, Samsung doesn’t cut corners on either the internal or external hardware.

Display

The 12.6-inch AMOLED screen on the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is a major selling point. It is extremely sharp because of its 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. The contrast is fairly strong, and the colors look saturated, as is typical for an AMOLED display. It’s a very impressive exhibition all around.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus’s 12.4-inch AMOLED screen served as a direct comparison, and the two displays are strikingly comparable. They both support 120Hz, so animations look incredibly fluid, and they both have a similar appearance. Netflix is compatible with the Tab P12 Pro because it supports HDR content and has a Widevine Level of L1.

When it comes to displaying technology, Samsung has consistently excelled, and the Tab S8 Plus is no exception. The colors on its 12.4-inch Super AMOLED display are among the nicest we’ve yet seen on a tablet. Additionally, OLED’s strength enables the display to get adequately bright while accurately displaying both lighter and darker images (up to 400 nits).

Performance

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage are all included in the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro. A 5G variant is also available. The performance of the Snapdragon 870 is a little bit inferior to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 series, according to benchmarks like Geekbench 5 and 3D Mark Wild Life. The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is among the quickest Android tablets available. With visuals set to UltraHD, PUBG Mobile looks fantastic and performs flawlessly, just like the top-tier devices used by the competition.

One UI Tab 4, which is based on Android 12, powers the Tab S8 Plus. Samsung claims that their top tablet will soon support Android 12L, Google’s forthcoming operating system that is actually intended for larger screens. The upgrades in the new operating system version that we’ve seen so far seem encouraging. The Tab S8 Plus is one of the few S series tablets that are eligible for Samsung’s five-year upgrade policy, which is a positive development. This gives the Tab S8 Plus an advantage over other Android manufacturers and increases its dependability for years to come.

The Tab S8 Plus is equipped with 8GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, allowing it to run and manage whatever apps you toss at it. The tablet was more than capable of serving as my background media player after several weeks of testing.

Cameras

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro has an 8-megapixel front-facing webcam with a TOF sensor that enables facial recognition to unlock the tablet. The front-facing camera works well for video chats and selfies. Great photographs and videos are produced by the back’s 13-megapixel primary camera. A 5-megapixel wide-angle camera is also included, although due to its low resolution, it lacks some sharpness and clarity.

Due to the additional 6MP ultra-wide lens, the Samsung Tab S8 Plus outperforms its predecessor in terms of picture quality. The tablet works well with the standard 13MP wide camera to scan documents and watch casual movies. The device weighs 1.26 pounds, so We wouldn’t suggest using it exclusively as a camera, and the matte, slick sides don’t exactly help with stabilization.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Vs Samsung Tab S8 Plus: Final Verdict

Tab P12 has an excellent build quality, a gorgeous 12.6-inch AMOLED screen, is extremely powerful, has a long battery life, and comes with a good stylus and an optional keyboard. The Tab P12 Pro is a terrific tablet all by itself and the best we’ve seen from Lenovo so far. It’s also really great that you can use the keyboard even when it’s not attached to the tablet.

There is an exception, the Tab S8 Plus. The Samsung tablet is not only impressive in terms of technology, but it also offers software functions (for the stylus, too!) that no other Android manufacturer offers. There are many more advantages for the mid-sized Galaxy tablet, including up to five years of software support and the impending release of Android 12L.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 has already been highlighted previously. It is quite comparable to the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro, but Samsung’s S Pen responds more quickly, and it should receive updates for a few more years.
