Design

Samsung Galaxy Book 2

The Galaxy Book 2 has a distinctive industrial style because it has several features in common with the Galaxy Book 2 360. the kind that, when placed next to laptops of a similar shape, quickly draws your interest. Since the Galaxy Book 2 doesn’t need to fold, its hinge is bigger and appears to be more sturdy. It has a smooth curvature that tapers off into the back of the laptop, giving the impression that it is all one piece. The disadvantage of this is that the joint between the hinge and the back has a sizable gap. If you can find the perfect surface to put them on, the stereo speakers here, like the ones in the Galaxy Book 2, sound great and are pretty loud. It’s just a pleasant shape to hold and use overall, and the rounded edges along the sides ensure that they won’t dig into your hands while in use.

In terms of the keyboard, the Galaxy Book2 comes with one that has a separate Numpad. The keys are well-organized, with the right amount of space between them, and are simple to read and locate. White backlighting is also offered to you to make it easier for you to see the keys and type in low light. You will feel the need for a little more distance as you type, though. There are no issues with the trackpad because it is reliable and responsive. Additionally, an excellent fingerprint scanner is built into the power key.

Professionals will find the full-size keyboard and Numpad on the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro to be beneficial. It has an unobtrusive white LED backlight that makes using the Book2 Pro in dimly lit areas a little bit simpler. The power button sits in the top-right corner of the keyboard and serves as a fingerprint sensor for faster logins.

One of the best features of the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro is its simple appearance. Contrary to most millennials, we’re not really a fan of big, flashy laptops, but the Galaxy Book 2 Pro is obviously not one of them. In fact, if you’ve ever used a Surface laptop, you might notice that Samsung’s laptop appears to draw certain design cues from Microsoft. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro gets the fundamentals right despite Samsung’s minimalist style.

To be expected from a laptop at this price point, the Galaxy Book 2 Pro is entirely composed of metal and feels pretty upscale. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro’s light weight of approximately 870 kilos is one of its greatest features. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro offers a wonderful build and is composed of metal, but it is still light enough to be taken almost everywhere, especially when traveling. Carrying bulky laptops and their batteries around can be rather difficult.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Book2 has one of the greatest displays in its category. When the lid is opened, a sizable 15.6-inch, LED-backlit LCD screen with a refresh rate of 60Hz is visible. Yes, the laptop lacks the AMOLED display found in the more expensive Galaxy Book2 Pro model, but at this price, you can live without it. The laptop’s lid can fold 180 degrees, giving you versatility in how you view the screen. Additionally, it has narrow bezels and a webcam that is centered at the top. The screen is sufficiently bright, has nice contrast, and has vibrant colors.

On the majority of its phones, Samsung provides excellent screen performance, and the company has continued this practice with its Galaxy Book 2 Pro laptop. A 13.3-inch AMOLED display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 60 Hz is available on the device we’re using. The lack of a higher refresh rate on a laptop this expensive is frustrating, but in actual use, the screen appears bright and brilliant in practically all lighting situations. As with Samsung phones, the auto-brightness feature continuously modifies the brightness level to suit the environment. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro’s screen is generally sufficiently bright and brilliant, and the colors appear to be fairly decent.

Software

The Galaxy Book2’s 16GB RAM and 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor enable it to perform routine chores quickly and easily. Windows 11 is preinstalled as well. The Galaxy Book2 can easily handle the typical office job, including web browsing, utilizing WhatsApp web and other social media accounts, participating in video calls and meetings, and running 10–12 tabs concurrently for about 9–10 hours every day.

When you turn on the Galaxy Book2 Pro, Windows 11 welcomes you and is happily kept as stock-like as possible, with a few Samsung additions here and there. Similar to the Galaxy Book 2 360, you can choose to charge it only 85% of the way to extend the battery’s life or leave it plugged in while you work. Additionally, there are options for quick Bluetooth connectivity and several presets for various color and sound settings. By slowing the processor and losing performance, you can also choose to be silent. Additionally, Samsung has limited the number of its own software suites to a minimum; if desired, you can uninstall any or all of them.

Performance

The 12th generation Intel Core i5-1235U processor in our review device was combined with 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of M.2 PCIe 3.0 SSD storage. The performance is fairly nice; however, it is obviously not as snappy as the Core i7-powered Galaxy Book 2; still, this is more than sufficient speed and power for a day at the office. If you keep your expectations in line, it may also be a terrific machine for leisure and catching up on your favorite shows, as well as a moderate gaming machine. The fact that the device did not heat up nearly as much as the Galaxy Book 2 with a Core i7 suggested that the thermals were much better controlled here with a larger chassis to work with. This productivity tool is excellent.

The Galaxy Book2’s 12th-generation “Alder Lake” Intel processors take advantage of a novel core architecture that combines potent “performance cores” and energy-saving “efficiency cores,” enabling the CPU to handle various workloads more effectively. This i5 processor performs almost as well as older-generation i7 CPUs, which is very impressive. The CPU performs particularly well in multi-core workloads, such as photo and video processing, thanks to its innovative core architecture. The CPU performs particularly well in multi-core workloads, such as photo and video processing, thanks to its innovative core architecture.

Battery

Samsung might have made improvements on the battery life here. Despite the company’s claims to offer a long-lasting battery, the results were underwhelming. In Book 2,  After four or five hours of nonstop use, the battery died. The only solace is the 65W charger Samsung provides, which replenishes the battery from 10% to 100% in about 2 hours. Other Samsung devices can also be charged quickly using this charger.

The first generation of the Galaxy Book Pro was an industry leader in terms of its battery life, and its successor, the Book2 Pro, does not disappoint in this regard. The Intel Evo laptop had a target battery life of nine hours, but this one lasted for an incredible 16.5 hours in our looping movie test, which is fairly similar to the efficiency of its predecessor. When it comes to production workloads, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro actually outperforms its predecessor in terms of battery life, managing 14 hours and 16 minutes in the PCMark ten battery test.

Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Vs Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro: Final Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Book2 is comparable to most of its available competitors at a starting price of about Rs. 66,000. This is a well-designed laptop with respectable performance, especially for professionals on the go. A quick charger meets the need, even if you might miss having a reliable battery backup. Given its huge 15.6-inch display, Samsung could have defied convention and included a larger battery. Better speakers would have improved the audio output as well.

In this price range, between sixty thousand and seventy thousand, it is challenging to properly recommend something that does not involve making any sacrifices. You can get laptops from Realme with 16 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes of storage for less than 70,000 rupees, but the processor is where they cut corners.

The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro does the majority of things right but might use some work in a few key areas. The device provides a display experience that is insanely good, performance that is adequate for day-to-day use, a user interface that is clean, and a design that is simple and elegant. Of course, the weight is the finest part. The Book 2 Pro has a well-balanced design and is quite convenient to carry about. However, the laptop sort of falls short in other aspects, like the audio and the battery.

Therefore, if you are searching for a laptop that is not only slim and lightweight but also has a fantastic display and respectable overall performance, the Galaxy Book 2 Pro is a nice option for you to consider if you have the financial means to do so; however, if you do not have the financial means to do so, you should look elsewhere.
