Design:

The Steelseries Arctis 5 has a modern look and minimalistic design. It has RGB lighting around the perimeter of the ear cups and has a transition of 10 seconds by default. You Will be able to customize its effect, including the speed, in the engine 3 software present in the features and software section.  The lighting remains on till the headset is plugged in. 

The headphone is light and comfortable and features an adjustable strap that also provides comfort. Due to its long cord length, you may feel bothersome sometimes as the cord could get entangled while gaming or doing some other stuff. There is a retractable microphone, which can bend, in the left ear cup, a volume wheel and a mic-mute button around the back. 

The HyperX Cloud 2 has brushed aluminium side panels with matte black finish earcups. There is a padded headband that has high-quality stitching and a sturdy metal frame that can be easily adjusted for your head. It is super lightweight and as per its name, it feels like there is a cloud on your head thus you can wear it for hours. This headphone has leatherette memory foam pads around the ear which makes it more comfortable.

Steelseries Arctis 5 Features a retractable microphone that can bend and it stays like that. There is a light at the end of the mic that gets activated when you mute/unmute it. So you get a notification just in front of your face. The sound quality of the mic is quite good. It features one of the best microphones in the gaming industry which comes with noise cancellation. 

HyperX Cloud 2 features a digitally enhanced noise-cancelling microphone with an automatic gain control functionality and echo cancellation which gets enabled through the USB sound card. The mic is flexible and detachable so you can use it in public places. It is certified by TeamSpeak and is optimised for Skype or any other chat platform.

Both Arctis 5 and HyperX cloud 2 comes with 7.1 surround sound which lets you immerse yourself in 360 degrees of precision audio. Both of them are exclusively made for gaming. 

The HyperX Cloud 2 features 53-millimetre drivers which offer high-end quality audio so you can hear everything in detail.

Steelseries Arctis 5:

  • Overall the headphones are good both in design and build quality, with decent sound. It is very comfortable, the ski-strap lets you adjust the band according to your head size. 
  • This headphone is not really good for PS4 as the sound is average. It may be because the software is not present in playstation.

HyperX Cloud 2:

  • Music sound is well balanced and the bass and treble are average.
  • There is sound leakage and the 7.1 surround sound does not work properly.

The decision is quite hard with the selection of a particular headphone as both of them are really good wired gaming headsets. Arctic 5 has plastic construction material whereas the HyperX cloud 2 has aluminium material construction but it is a little less comfortable than Arctis 5. 

Both of them have a noise cancellation mic but it is not detachable in Arctis 5. The sound quality is somewhat the same in both the headphones but the Arctis 5 doesn’t sound very well with consoles. The price of HyperX cloud 2 is more than Arctis 5. Therefore it is up to your choice.
