Treblab has only been producing Bluetooth speakers and headphones at a reasonable price since 2015. With the exception of the HD-Max Speaker, Treblab’s products are all under $100, making them an appealing alternative to more expensive wireless speakers from JBL and Ultimate Ears. While the Treblab HD77 Bluetooth speaker is suitable for backyard barbecues and backcountry hiking, it is not suitable for bathing or hosting beach parties. The JBL Charge 5 and Flip 5 have similar designs, so let’s see how the HD77 stacks up against them.
Whereas most JBL outdoor speakers fall into one of two categories: small and portable but lacking in bass, or large and bulky but capable of filling a room. As a result, JBL offers a wide range of party speaker options that avoid these common blunders. The JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker, which costs $119.95, is the smallest and least expensive option in terms of size. Portability is a major selling point, with a weight of 1.19 pounds (0.54 kilograms) and a wrist strap. Despite its small size, it produces a surprising amount of sound. It’s slightly larger than a tallboy can of beer in terms of size (which is 18.9 by 6.9 by 7.4 centimeters).

Treblab HD77 vs JBL Flip 5: Detailed Analysis
Design
A 16-ounce can of seltzer is roughly the size of the HD77 speaker, which is roughly the size of the JBL Flip 5. The HD77 is about the same size as the HD77, measuring 7.3 inches by 3 inches by 3 inches and weighing 21.92 ounces. The Treblab speaker’s detachable carrying strap also includes carabiner attachments for attaching to a backpack, bike basket, or belt loop. Although you must supply your own power supply, the headset includes a 3.5mm auxiliary cable as well as a micro USB charging cable.
The HD77’s sleek black exterior features two smooth, impact-resistant plastic cylinders, each of which houses two passive bass radiator speakers, in addition to the easy-to-hold grille. When the speaker is turned on, an LED ring glows blue, and when it is turned off or charging, an LED ring glows red. An auxiliary or DC 5V cable can be plugged into a discrete pull-out panel on the flat base of the speaker to keep it stable on most surfaces.
The JBL Flip 5 can be taken anywhere due to its small size and lightweight. You’ll have a speaker that won’t get in the way if you don’t mind putting it in a car cup holder (or even a bike bottle cage) or hanging it off the end of your boat. When packing for your next gym session, a day at the beach, day hike, or a long flight in the air, make no effort or second guess. My kids encouraged me to use it in this way for science and experimentation because of its shape and texture, which made it incredibly grippy. It emerged unscathed and unaffected from our game of tossing.
Audio Quality
The HD77 cannot compete with wired speakers or more expensive Bluetooth models, but it does the job for less than $100. The HD77’s frequency response ranges from 80 Hz to 16 kHz, which makes sense given the HD77’s 12.5-watt drivers and DualBass radiator technology, both of which work together to support the low-end but may be lacking for some. The bass guitar, kick drum, and sub-bass all lack enough dynamic range to be useful. This is true for the majority of small Bluetooth speakers, regardless of how cheap or expensive they are.
The JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker, on the other hand, is a great option if you’re on the go. On current-generation JBL speakers, you can use the PartyBoost feature to configure them as stereo pairs or mono multiples (up to 100, according to JBL) for larger sound when grilling or lounging by the pool. Older JBL speakers can be connected using the Connect or Connect+ protocols, but not PartyBoost. JBL claims that the cost of gear obsolescence is a longer, stronger, and more crystal-clear wireless signal.

Battery
The HD77’s battery capacity is 5200mAh, and the device can play music for up to 19 hours at low volume, 12 hours at medium volume, and 9 hours at high volume when using the aux cord. You won’t run out of battery power during the day if you remember to plug it in overnight or at least remember when you wake up in the morning. You won’t know how much battery life you have left unless you monitor it. The HD77’s battery will play a loud warning every 30 seconds, which is a relatively low level for warnings of impending shutdown. If you take this portable speaker somewhere where you won’t be able to plug it in right away, it won’t be able to play for the last 20-30 minutes of charge. If you happen to be at home, you can continue the party while the speaker charges. JBL claims that the JBL Flip 5 has a 12-hour playback time on a single charge, but in our testing, we only got 9 hours and 27 minutes. Even so, a day at the beach or a hike will suffice.

- When you turn it on or off, it speaks. When it is turned on, the light turns blue.

Treblab HD77 vs JBL Flip 5: Final Verdict
The Treblab HD77 BlueTooth speaker is an excellent companion for a trip to the beach, park, or forest. Despite the lack of waterproof Bluetooth speaker features and sound quality, it may be one of the best portable Bluetooth speakers for those on a tight budget. If you don’t mind the extra weight, consider the $120 JBL Flip 5 (reviewed here) or the $180 JBL Charge 5 if you’re willing to spend a little more (reviewed here). However, if portability and price are important to you, the HD77 is a powerful and simple companion with excellent durability and a solid sound that you can take with you wherever you go. With the carabiner, you can listen to all of your favorite music and podcasts wherever you go. While the JBL Charge 5 isn’t a game-changer, it’s still a fantastic loudspeaker in its own right. Despite the fact that they both have cylindrical designs, the Charge 5 is a completely different speaker than the Flip 5. The larger, heavier Charge 5 can power a party for up to 20 hours on a single charge. When not in use, it can also be used to power your mobile devices.
