Marshall Woburn II VS Marshall Tufton: Which Is Best?

Marshall Tufton

Marshall is a household name in the music industry.

Marshall is one of the most well-known names in rock and roll when it comes to amplifiers, offering a wide range of studio and live amps. Marshall amplifiers have been used on stage by many rock and roll legends. As a result, the company has only recently begun to dabble in speaker and home audio technology. It’s difficult to find a good Bluetooth speaker that isn’t made by Marshall. \

The Tufton Bluetooth speaker and Woburn II, Marshall’s newest portable speaker, arrive just in time for summer.

Following the Marshall Woburn II, the Tufton is Marshall’s third and largest portable speaker. Unlike previous Marshall speakers, the Tufton bears a striking resemblance to a street that has come to be associated with Brexit-related Eurosceptic think tanks.

Let us not blame the speaker for this, even though it is highly likely that it occurred during the naming process.

Design And Build Quality

Marshall Woburn II

The Marshall Woburn Bluetooth speaker is one of the best examples of a product that pushes the boundaries of style and performance to the extreme.

Anyone who has ever played air guitar to a Sex Pistols or G&R song is an excellent candidate for a Marshall speaker.

When it comes to staging presence, the Woburn 2 is about the size of a practice amp and exudes confidence. Not the type of speaker you’d bring to a party at a friend’s house. It’s big and heavy. Visitors will come to your house just to look at this type of loudspeaker.

Depending on your preferences, the Marshall Woburn 2 is available in black, white, or brown.

All models come standard with gold dials, a gold stripe at the bottom, and a gold brand in the grille.

When it comes to Marshall’s wireless speakers, there are no exceptions, and the Tufton is no exception. It is distinguished from the Woburn II by its portrait rather than landscape framing. Even if Marshall’s speakers aren’t for everyone, they are certainly eye-catching and one-of-a-kind.

The word “portable” probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you’re 22cm tall and weigh just under 5kg. Even if you feel like Radio Raheem with his Boombox from Spike Lee’s 1989 classic Do The Right Thing, the attached handle allows you to carry it around. The Tufton’s rugged appearance is due to its sturdy construction, which includes flush-mounted corner flaps and faux leather upholstery.

Features

Make a visual and audible statement with the Marshall Woburn 2. As a result, it isn’t the most advanced Bluetooth speaker we’ve seen. Bluetooth 5.0, on the other hand, is now available, and we’ll go over it shortly.

You can adjust the volume, bass, and treble levels on the Marshall Woburn 2’s top panel. A Bluetooth app for controlling audio is also included.

There are special presets available to help you tailor your sound to the music you’re listening to.

The Marshall Woburn 2 speaker allows you to switch between multiple devices while also playing music over a wired connection.

Tufton, on the other hand, has an IPX2 rating, which is adequate for dripping water but insufficient for a rainy British summer or a beer spill.

The Tufton allows you to stream music from two devices at the same time via Bluetooth, eliminating the need to wrestle the smartphone from someone else’s hands if the current track is too loud. Connect your mobile device to the system and start listening to music right away.

Bluetooth 5.0 technology on the speaker provides a wireless range of 30 feet. Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, and other intelligent features are conspicuously missing.

Connectivity

Marshall Tufton

One of the best features of the Marshall Bluetooth speaker is its connectivity. Because Marshall does not skimp on sound quality, you can be confident that the connection between your devices and Marshall will be flawless. A Bluetooth device can be connected from up to ten metres away!

Bluetooth multi-hosting is also supported, allowing multiple people to control the music you’re listening to. There are also auxiliary in and auxiliary out connections in addition to the Bluetooth 5.0 connection.

For those who want to connect their device to a larger Hi-Fi system, the Marshall Woburn Bluetooth speaker has RCA connectivity. The price is reasonable for the amount of technology included, but some smart features would have been nice.

When you twist the On/Off button, you’ll hear a guitar amp-like hum from the speaker, which has three physical knob switches for operation.

The On/Off knob also controls the volume, but it does not go all the way up to 11. The Bass and Treble controls on the other two units allow you to experiment with various frequencies. The right LED light indicates battery life, while the left Bluetooth button initiates pairing.

Performance

Whatever you connect the Marshall Woburn 2 to, the sound quality is always excellent. Despite a few missing features, this Marshall speaker produces excellent sound. This speaker’s volume is out of this world.

Outside of sound-proofed rooms, you can hear it and turn up your music so loud that it shakes the foundations of your house.

Even at these eardrum-melting volumes, the Marshall Woburn speakers’ incredible quality of audio drivers and technology ensures that clarity and accuracy are never compromised. Unlike most party speakers, this one lacks extras such as light shows.

Marshall Tuffton’s soundstage, on the other hand, is similarly condensed due to its narrower, tower-shaped design. Furthermore, the treble and mids, like the Kilburn II, could benefit from more separation.

It’s a speaker that works best with upbeat music. A performance of “The Landing” from Justin Hurwitz’s First Man reveals that the top end lacks detail. As previously stated, the treble and bass levels can be tweaked to achieve marginally better results.

The volume and power of the sound, on the other hand, are maximized. Kanye West’s Power is a song that feels tailor-made for the Tufton’s characteristics, full of power, heft, and a room/patio-shaking bass performance. When you play the Tufton, it sounds like it’s exploding from the speaker rather than playing.

Marshall Woburn II VS Marshall Tufton: Final Verdict

Finally, Marshal Woburn II is good but it’s pricey, and you’re approaching true audiophile territory. The Woburn II is a great place to start if you want to start a multi-room setup, but it’s not the best option if you want an audiophile option like the similarly stack-like Audio Pro Drumfire. If you want to go all the way to 11, consider the cost of ear defenders or Marshall Tufton.

The Tufton, on the other hand, is a fun speaker to listen to as long as you play songs that complement its distinct characteristics. Because of its ability to be used both indoors and outdoors, the Tufton is an excellent choice for a portable party speaker. The Tufton would be a great conversation starter at a barbecue or a park picnic this summer.
